The articles attached here are offered as part of this debate. They will be supplemented shortly with papers from the GLAD Conference 2008, held at Nottingham Trent University, which used the stimulus of the GLAD book from the Cambridge Conference ‘The Student Experience in Art and Design Higher Education:  Drivers for Change’ to ask how the subject should develop over the forthcoming planning period, which will see increasing pressure on resource and a diminishing number of students entering higher education in consequence of a demographic downturn.

GLAD is also currently undertaking research, supported by the Head Trust and the ADM-HEA Subject Centre on the performance of ADM subjects in the NSS.

If you are interested in purchasing the GLAD book, this can be purchased from Susan Hill, Executive Officer to the Deputy Principal, The Arts Institute at Bournemouth, email
